According to the Charlotte Observer’s Jim Utter, Richard Childress Racing, and Kevin Harvick have come to an agreement on a contract extension. Harvick and Childress are expected to announce the terms of the deal in a news conference at Charlotte Motor Speedway at 3:15 pm (eastern time).
Harvick and Childress appeared to have their relationship strained during an abysmal 2009 campaign which saw Harvick finish the season 19th in the point standings. It was a uncharacteristic bad season all around for the organization, as none of their teams made the chase, and it appeared Harvick wanted out.
However this season the RCR team as a whole have stepped up their game, and Kevin Harvick actually sits as the point leader after 13 races. Harvick was also able to capture a victory at Talladega which snapped a winless streak that dated back to the 2007 Daytona 500.
