Landon Cassill won the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie of the year award, despite just compteting in 19 races that season. Cassill impressed scoring five top-five finishes that season, and looked to have a bright future, but in recent years he has just been scrambling to find a solid ride again.

Well according to a press release from JR Motorsports, Cassill has been signed back on to pilot the No. 7 car starting with the Nationwide Series race at Phoenix next week. Cassill will have backing in Phoenix from, who also sponsored Danica Patrick in her stint behind the wheel of the car.

“Landon is a familiar face at JR Motorsports, and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back to drive our No. 7 Chevrolets these next few weeks,” Kelley Earnhardt said.  “We are committed to keeping this No. 7 team racing as long as possible, because with Tony Eury Jr. and an extremely dedicated group of employees, this team is too good to not be at the race track.  We are fortunate to have on board at Phoenix.  I know it’s a big deal to have represented there, because the Valley is home to Bob Parsons and the team.  They are great partners.”

No sponsor has been named just yet for Cassill’s other three guaranteed starts at Texas, Talladega, and Richmond.
